TRURO - Nova Scotia's Health Minister says having free votes
in the legislature over an anti-smoking bill isn't an idea he
supports. Jamie Muir says the bill is supported by all parties
in the province, even if there are individual dissenters.
But several
Conservative MLAs have suggested they might vote against the
bill because it doesn't propose a ban on smoking in all public
places. House Speaker Murray Scott and two other Tories have
asked for a free vote on the legislation.
The Act
would ban smoking in most public places, but allow smoking in
up to 25 per cent of the floor space in restaurants and bars.
