OTTAWA
- The Honourable Anne McLellan, Minister of Health, and
the
Honourable Bill Graham, Minister of Foreign Affairs, reaffirmed
today
the Government of Canada's commitment to reduce tobacco consumption
globally. Canada is a lead supporter in the development of the
Framework
Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC), which will be the first
global agreement devoted entirely to tobacco control. Canadian
officials will be participating
in the fourth round of negotiations on the World Health Organization's
Framework Convention on Tobacco Control, taking place in Geneva,
March
18 to 23, 2002.
