The Canadian Women's Health Network hosts a roundtable discussion about women's exposure to toxic environments, with presenters from the Centres of Excelle= nce in Women's Health. Toxins may include the growing number of chemicals in ou= r water, air, earth, homes and workplaces, but a broader range of "toxic environments" will also be explored. 3. Petition: United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Aboriginal Peoples

This petition, developed by the Assembly of First Nations of Quebec and Labrador &  Amnesty International, demands that the government of Canada sign the United Nations Declaration on the Ri= ghts of Indigenous Peoples in order to ensure fundamental respect and human righ= ts, individually and collectively, for Canada's Aboriginal Peoples. 4. Mammogram Math
<= br />A New York Times Magazine story is one of many pieces covering the new mammogram guidelines recommended in the United States. The article covers why evidence-based medicine can seem to go against instinct, and the difficulti= es in translating scientists' recommendations to the general public, by "delving into the murky area between mathematics and psychology." 3D"E5"5. Check It Out: Queer Women Need Paps Too!


The campaign, a project of the Queer Women's Health Initiative, is trying to ge= t the word out: if you've ever been sexually active and have a cervix, you ne= ed a Pap test. The campaign's website offers information to women who have sex w= ith women about what a Pap test is and why queer women need them. There's also = a campaign for trans men, called Check It Out Guys: The Trans Men's Pap Campaign. Visi= t www.check-it-out.ca.

Women's Worlds 2011, a global feminist conference being held in Ottawa-Gatineau in = July of 2011, has launched a call for participation. Proposals from individuals, groups, coalitions, networks, and teams will be accepted until September 15= , 2010. The main congress theme is "Inclusions, exclusions, and seclusions: Living in a globalized world."

7. WH= O Report on Women's Health Worldwide

The World Health Organization has released a report on women's worldwide health from birth u= ntil death. Titled "Women and Health: Today's Evidence, Tomorrow's Agenda," the = report is the first of its kind from the U.N. agency. Read from the report.

The Native Women= 's Association of Canada will be hosting a two-day tradeshow and conference, Miyo Machihowin, March 11-12, 2= 009, to provide Aboriginal youth with an opportunity to explore and discover the wide variety of professions available in the Canadian Health Sector. The POWER Study (Project for an Ontario Women's Health Evidence-based Report) is producing a comprehensive Women's Health Report to serve as an evidence-bas= ed tool for policy makers, providers and consumers in their efforts to improve health and reduce health inequities among the women and men of Ontario. 10. Resources for Women with Addictions

Two new resources are now available to assist women with addictions and community groups that serve them in making decisi= ons about participating in research. These guides summarize findings from a CIHR-funded study led by Dr. Amy Salmon that examined how to better support= the active and meaningful participation of women with substance use problems in health research.
