*the role of pre-existing mental health challenges, including the role of deprivation and abuse within unstable home environments

- The complexity of youths’ experience pertinent to mental health need; specifically overwhelming distress, as well as their capacity to be resilient and to cope with challenging circumstances

- The urgent need for increased access to mental health services for street-involved youth

- Skillful intervention emphasizing positive self acceptance and the need to move away from negative coping strategies (such as self harm or addiction) toward more adaptive strategies (such as building positive relationships)
