Community Links, a provincial association of over 280 senior and senior-serving organizations in Nova Scotia has launched a provincial research project on age friendly workplaces in the non-profit sector in order to:

1. Ascertain what nonprofits can do to mitigate the impact of an aging workforce.
2. Research and document what might induce and support individuals near retirement to stay employed in our sector or to seek new employment in the nonprofit sector as a second career

The provincial forum on February 27th, 2012 will present the information gathered by the project and provide discussion opportunities to reflect on the project findings and to identify potential recommendations to guide the non-profit sector in being an age friendly workplace, supporting the inclusion of mature workers. A 2-page Discussion Paper based on the project’s surveys, focus groups and research on best practices and trends is available to Forum participants upon registration.
