Conference Description:
Our early relationships and experiences shape all aspects of physical and mental health and are pivotal to who we become and how we function throughout life. We naturally strive forward. The behaviour of young children is meaningful and understanding this concept is vital for all involved with children. This conference will stimulate dialogue reflection a deeper understanding of a childs total development as rooted in their earliest relationships and may revolutionize our approaches and practices with young children their families and their communities.

- To promote focused dialogue among individuals and groups who support early child development and learning
- To showcase exemplary approaches that support healthy early childhood social emotional development

In this third Fireside Chat in a series of five, co-sponsored by the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) and CHNET-Works!, PHABC and the Pan Canadian Task Force on Public Health Nutrition Practice will present their public health workforce development projects.

- Continuing education programs;
- Competency sets and implementation tools;
- Continuing professional competency programs;
- Technology to manage surveillance data in the field; and
- Practicum placement tools.
PHABC’s Competency Project
Learn about how the Core Competencies for Public Health in Canada: Release 1.0 relate to the Core Public Health Functions for BC and how PHABC:
- Assessed the needs of the public health workforce;
- Implemented processes to meet the competency profile gaps;
- Identified education/training opportunities;
- Developed tools for education and workforce development.
